Christianity came to the pueblos of New Mexico hundreds of years ago. Some pueblo artists make crosses to hang on a wall. This one is made of pottery by Ralph Bailon of Santo Domingo Pueblo, the husband of Angel Bailon. It features a flower design. Flowers have been admired by pueblo people since pre-historic times and flowers are often seen on Santo Domingo pottery. It gives a southwest style to a Christian symbol. This cross is ten inches tall (25 cm.).
