This southwest advent calendar shows Koshari clowns. They are seen at pueblo feast days in New Mexico. They are usually striped in black and white stripes. The clowns are sacred, but they also have the job of amusing the audience watching the dance. The advent calendar also show the painted pottery designs of the prehistoric Mimbres culture far to the south. This is the newest design in the series of Southwest Advent Calendars by Mary Ray Cate. There are numbered cardboard doors to open, beginning with December 1st and ending on Christmas Eve. Behind each open door is a picture relating to the theme of the advent calendar.
