Russian Santas are distinctive and beautifully painted. Some Russian Santas are cast of plaster, but the best Santas are carved by hand in Russia before they are painted. This one is hand carved and it is signed by the artist. He has a separate wooded staff, which can be removed. He holds a sack of toys on his back, with painted red holly berries and a white snowflake on the sack. The sole of one foot is visible on the back, proof that he is walking. His face is friendly, with rosy cheeks and blue eyes. His robes are green with touches of gold and delicate white details. He is eight inches tall (20 cm.).
