Hispanic wood carvers in the small villages of northern New Mexico have evolved this style of chip carving in the early 20th century. Manuel Montoya is a shy carver who has never been in the Spanish Market. His carving has the folk art charm of the region, and looks good on a Christmas tree with a New Mexico theme. You could also display it year round. It is a nice gift for a bird watcher.
