Charlie Carrillo is a well known Santa Fe santero, a maker of religious images in the New Mexico Spanish Colonial style. Every July he participates in Spanish Market on the plaza in Santa Fe. In 2004, Charlie designed this image for use as the logo of a national biennial convention of club of nativity collectors, Friends of the Creche, in Santa Fe. The convention was called Land of Enchanting Nativities and was held in Santa Fe in 2005. Recently Charlie was injured in an automobile accident and will not be able to work for several months. His image has been made into a light weight ornament by Lynn Garlick Retablos of Taos. The profit from the sale of this ornament will go directly to Charlie Carrillo. This retablo is five inches tall (12 cm.).
