La Conquistadora is a beautiful figure of Mary which first came to Santa Fe with Spanish settlers coming north from Old Mexico in 1625. They carefully took the statue with them when they fled the Pueblo Revolt in 1680, and brought it back to Santa Fe thirteen years later. She has a place of honor in the historic adobe side chapel of the Cathedral Basilica, and even the side chapel is not as old as La Conquistadora herself. The purchase of this ornament benefits the Friends of the Cathedral. It is made in Poland, comes in a nice red box, and is three inches wide.
