In the colonial times of New Mexico, burros were the preferred way to deliver firewood. Ben Herrera of Cochiti Pueblo made this burro ornament, loaded with wood. Many pueblo homes today have stoves that burn firewood and outdoor adobe hornos use firewood to bake delicious oven bread. Pick-up trucks are the modern way to deliver firewood but this darling little pueblo pottery burro could deliver wood to your Christmas tree. He is one and a half inches tall (4 cm.).
