This simple carved cross by Sabinita Lopez Ortiz sits on a wooden base. The cross and base are aspen wood. Two carved birds of red cedar add interest to the cross. The carving style is distinctive to Northern New Mexico in general and Sabinita in particular. The tall aspen wood base with deep cuts on each edge adds importance to the cross and casts shadows in any light. The height of the piece is about seven inches (21 cm.).
