Sabanita Lopez Ortiz is a famous New Mexican wood carver from a small village on the High Road to Taos. Her work in in the Smithsonian. She is the niece of George Lopez, a famous New Mexico carver. Some of her nativities have a distinctive arch with leaves. This nativity is even more special because there is a small animal on each leaf. On the base of are an ox and an ass and small squirrels.The height is 18 inches. The base is nine and a half inches wide (24 cm.).
