Maxine Toya is a talented potter from Jemez Pueblo. She has won many prizes at Indian Market in Santa Fe. Her distinctive pueblo pottery style groups Mary and Joseph as one piece. Her three wise men are also grouped as one piece. The Baby Jesus lies in a bed, but cannot be separated from the bed. There is a donkey with a blanket over his back, and a little drummer boy with a separate little drumstick. The angel has wings painted with traditional Jemez pottery designs. A small lamb completes this elegant southwest nativity by a famous pueblo artist. The tallest figure is seven inches tall (18 cm.).
