CORNHUSK NATIVITY FROM SLOVAKIA

This lovely nativity is from Slovakia. It is made of a wooden stable, painted blue with white decoration. The figures are made of cornhusk, and they are glued in place. A cornhusk angel sits on the roof, presiding over the nativity scene below. Each cornhusk wise man wears a cornhusk crown, and Mary and Joseph both have a simple cornhusk halo. The faces are charming. The scene is charming. The nativity comes in a sturdy white box, which can be used to store it when it is not on display. The scene is six and a half inches tall at the highest point (17 cm.).
