German pewter figures have a long history. This pewter Santa is by a German company called Wilhelm Schweitzer, south of Munich. It has been in business in the same family for over two hundred years. Every year this company designs a new Santa figure. The Striding Santa is Susan’s personal favorite. He is setting off to work on foot on Christmas Eve, his back basket full of surprises for good children, his star tipped walking stick helping him keep his balance. Each pewter Santa is cast by hand in a special mold carved out of slate, then cast by hand, cleaned up by hand, and painted by hand. The company has decided to discontinue this style of Santa, so if you like it, grab it now!
Each Santa comes in a lovely box with layers of foam to protect it. This Santa is three and a half inches tall (9 cm.).
