There is an ancient adobe house close to San Miguel Mission on De Vargas Street in Santa Fe. It was given the name “The Oldest House” more than a century ago, perhaps when San Miguel Mission was given the name “The Oldest Church”. Whether those names are literally true is irrelevant. What is true is that in Catherine Maziere’s hands, the subject becomes a glowing, fascinating pin with details like vigas extending from the facade and a silver tree growing behind the house. Most of Catherine’s pins are pendants as well. This is only a pin, but what a pin! It is a bit more than two inches wide (5 cm.).
