Advent calendars feature little numbered paper tabs which are opened one day at a time, from December 1st till Christmas Eve, in anticipation of Christmas. Mary Ray Cate has created a series of Southwest advent calendars that teach children about New Mexico. This version shows a Spanish village on the High Road to Taos, nestled in the snowy Sangre de Cristo mountains. Children who open the little doors will learn facts about the culture of villages like this.
